Class of 1942

Mr. W.C. "Bill" Quirl, Class of 1941, was our oldest reunion attendee for many years.  His family lived in Coleman County where his father was a teacher and principal at one of the county schools.

He was 94 years old when he died on October 1, 2016.  He was a Dallas businessman and until his last battle with cancer, supervised his various businesses and properties in Dallas.  As recently as 2015 he drove himself to the reunion.  Some years he brought his sisters and friends to the reunions in October.

He was a loyal Bluecat and played football for Coleman High School beginning in 1937.

He is shown here as an Honor Flight Honoree, an enlistee in the Army Air Corps in 1942.  Honor Flight™ is a network of volunteers established for the express purpose of getting as many WWII Veterans as possible to Washington, DC to view the World War II Memorial. Honor Flight™ was originally set up in 2004 by Earl Morse, a physician's assistant from Ohio. Honor Flight™ DFW (HFDFW) was established in September 2008 to bring this wonderful effort to the Dallas/Ft Worth/North Texas area. To date, Honor Flight DFW has flown 303 veterans to Washington, D.C.
